Listing a homestay on Mytour: what to ask about commission, payment and availability

HostBooking · · 6 min read

Mytour is a Vietnamese hotel and flight booking app aimed at domestic travellers, who pay by bank transfer, domestic ATM card, credit card or at convenience stores. Mytour publishes no commission rate or payout schedule for partners: it is all in the contract, so most of the work is asking the right questions before you sign.

How Mytour differs from international OTAs

Mytour sells hotel rooms, guesthouses and flights in an app and website in Vietnamese. The app is aimed at the domestic market and accepts bank transfers, domestic ATM cards, credit cards and payment at convenience stores. For a homestay hosting Vietnamese weekend travellers, this is an audience Booking.com and Airbnb do not fully cover.

Unlike Airbnb or Booking.com, Mytour has no self-service sign-up or public fee table that we could verify (11/2026). Partnerships usually go through conversations and a contract with Mytour’s team, so terms can differ from one property to the next.

What to prepare before getting in touch

  • A business registration (household business or company) and tax code.
  • A bank account in the business’s or household head’s name.
  • Room photos, a list of room types with the number of rooms each, and weekday, weekend and holiday prices.
  • A written cancellation policy, check-in and check-out times and house rules.

Guests who book through Mytour still need a stay notice to the police like any other guest, and Mytour revenue is still your revenue for household business tax.

Questions to settle in the contract

QuestionWhy it matters
What percentage, charged on which price?Whether it is on prices with or without VAT and surcharges changes your take-home a lot
Does Mytour collect from the guest, or does the guest pay at the property?Decides whether Mytour pays you or you pay Mytour commission
Reconciliation and payout cycle: weekly, monthly, counted from which date?So you know when money arrives and can plan cash flow in low season
Is the commission invoice issued with VAT, and to whom?If you cannot deduct VAT on commission, it is a real cost to build into prices
Who funds promotions and discount codes on Mytour?A discount Mytour runs may or may not come out of your share
How are cancellations and no-shows handled?Who holds the money, who refunds, and whether commission applies
How do you open and close rooms?A partner page, an iCal link, or messaging a Mytour staff member

Once you know the commission and any tax on it, enter them in the OTA price calculator under Other. It has a field for tax on commission: if Mytour’s commission invoice carries VAT you cannot deduct, enter that rate.

Month-end reconciliation

If Mytour sends a statement of bookings for both sides to confirm, do not confirm it before checking it against your own records. A tidy routine:

  1. Record every Mytour booking as it arrives, with Mytour’s booking code.
  2. Note on each booking who collected from the guest: Mytour or you.
  3. At period end, filter Mytour stays that checked out and compare code by code with the statement: price, commission, cancellations.
  4. Note any difference and the reason before confirming, and follow up until the right amount arrives.

Keeping calendars in step

Ask Mytour at the start how availability is updated: a partner page, an iCal link, or telling a staff member. With an iCal link, connect it both ways with your other channels. If updates go through a person, agree who reports, through which channel, and keep the confirmation messages. Closing a room through someone else lags more than iCal, so for upcoming nights check with Mytour before accepting a guest elsewhere. General habits that prevent double bookings are in iCal sync and double bookings.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: domestic guests; contract and support in Vietnamese; payment methods Vietnamese travellers already use.
  • Cons: no public fee table to compare beforehand; terms depend on negotiation; how availability is updated needs to be pinned down.

Where HostBooking helps

HostBooking does not read Mytour booking emails yet (it reads Booking.com, Agoda, Airbnb, Traveloka, Trip.com and Expedia emails). For Mytour, this is the workflow:

  • Enter Mytour bookings at the desk in seconds: pick the Mytour channel, add the booking code, commission as a percentage or amount, and who collected. The room is held immediately like any other booking.
  • Reports by channel split Mytour revenue and commission, and the booking list filters by channel to compare with the month-end statement.
  • If Mytour gives you an iCal link, paste it into HostBooking and set the channel to Mytour: the calendar is pulled every 5 minutes with alerts on double-booked nights. Your own calendar links for Mytour exist per room type and per room.
  • Your own booking website so regulars book direct, with VietQR deposits to your account and no percentage taken by HostBooking.

Frequently asked questions

What commission does Mytour charge?

Mytour publishes no general partner rate, and we found no reliable source for a figure (11/2026). Yours is in the contract; ask whether it applies to prices with or without VAT.

How do Mytour guests pay?

By bank transfer, domestic ATM card, credit card or at convenience stores. Ask Mytour which bookings it collects and which guests pay at the property.

Does HostBooking pick up Mytour bookings automatically?

Not by email yet. You enter the booking with the Mytour channel, code and commission; if Mytour gives an iCal link, HostBooking pulls the calendar every 5 minutes.

Is Mytour worth it for a homestay?

Worth trying if you host many domestic guests and can control opening and closing rooms across channels. Read the contract carefully first.
